Vital Stuff

Welcome! If you're seeing this message it means that there are still spots open on the ride -- glad you can make it!

Here's all the important boring stuff first...

MONEY

The total price of this trip is $3,000 per person.  (You don't have to pay that all at once! Details below.)

Complete info on what's included and what isn't can be found here, but basically everything is covered except air fare. Transport for your bike to the ride and back again is free if you are traveling from:

New York City

Cleveland

Chicago

St. Louis

Kansas City

Denver

Traveling from another location? We can help -- just let us know.

That price is based on two people per hotel room. If you want a room for yourself it's an extra $700. (We don't earn anything from that $700 fee -- it just covers the rest of the hotel tab for your room each night.)

At the end of this registration you will be charged a $250 deposit on your credit card, plus about $15 in on-line registration service fees.  (We don’t get any of those fees -- they go to the registration company and the credit card processors).

CANCELLATION POLICY

Need to Cancel Right Away?

Not to worry -- you have 14 days from the time you register to cancel without penalty. You get back your entire $250.  (I’m afraid you lose that small service fee -- the registration company won’t give it back to us, so we can’t give it back to you.)

If You Cancel Within 30 Days

You will have a $250 credit with us, which you can use for any of our events until the end of the 2018 ride season.

If You Cancel After 30 Days

After 30 days we are unable to offer credits or refunds for any reason. You can sell your spot on your own if you wish. If you're worried that you might not be able to make the trip, we strongly recommend...

Trip Insurance

Trip insurance is available from Travel Guard, and covers you if you can't make the trip, or get sick in the middle of the event.  You can read complete details on what is covered right here.

The insurance costs about 10% - 15% of the price of the trip, depending on which options you pick. You can get a free, no-commitment, on-line quote here.

If you decide to buy trip insurance we recommend that you sign up for the trip first, BEFORE you buy coverage. (It's just easier that way). Trip insurance questions? Happy to assist -- just contact us.

PAYMENTS

At the end of this on-line registration you'll be charged a $250 deposit on your credit card.

The balance of the payment for your trip is due by check.

An additional $1,500 per person is due within 60 days after the trip is confirmed (see below).

The final balance of $1,250 is due no later than August 1, 2017.

We'll send you an invoice as a friendly reminder when checks are due.

Make your checks payable to:

BICYCLE SHOWS U.S

and mail them to:

BICYCLE SHOWS U.S.

230 Smith Hughes Road

Narrowsburg, NY  12764

Please be SURE to include the name of the person for whom you are paying.

What is the brand and color of the bike you'll use on the ride?  (Red Trek, yellow and black Colnago....)  If you don't know you can just skip this.  We ask so that if you get separated from your bike we can get you together again faster! By the way, YES, you can bring your tandem or recumbent if you wish.

Hotel Preferences

The price of the ride is based on two people per hotel room.  Please list below the name of the person you will be sharing with.

If you want us to help you find a roommate of the same gender as you, we're happy to help. Please enter Find Me a Roommate in the space below. We've had quite a few requests from both men and women looking for roommates, so join us!

If it turns out that we can't find you a roommate in a sane amount of time we will refund all of your $250 deposit.  Sadly, you'll lose the $15 or so in on-line registration fees.  (We don't get any of that money -- it goes to the on-line registration folks. They won't give it back to us so we can't give it back to you.)  Personally, I think it's worth a $15 gamble to make sure you don't get shut out, but you'll have to make that call.

If you want a private room each night for yourself it costs $700 extra for the entire trip.  Just write, "No Roommate -- Private Room" in the space below and we will bill you accordingly. (We don't earn anything from that $700 -- it just covers the rest of the cost for your hotel rooms).

Hotel rooms have one queen or king bed.  If you need two separate beds, please let us know here.

Getting Your Bike to and From the Ride

We offer free transportation for your bike to Las Vegas, and from the end of the ride (Sedona) back. No disassembly, no packing.  This offer is valid in:

New York City

Cleveland

Chicago

St. Louis

Kansas City

Denver

If that doesn't work for you let us know and we'll help you with packing and shipping -- not a problem.

Please note that we cannot take luggage with the bikes -- no room!  If you use compressed gas cartridges to fill your tires (and if you do, you know who you are...) we are happy to transport them for you, as they can be difficult to take on a plane.

SO... how do you THINK you're transporting your bike? We understand that things can change, but this gives us a rough idea so we can best plan for you.

Your Bike Riding Style

Most days we'll offer a longer route and a shorter route. What's your preference?

You are NOT bound by this answer -- you can change your mind any time you want, even on ride day, without notifying us in advance.

We're asking here just so we can ESTIMATE how many people to expect where and when.

MEALS

Tell us about any special meal needs and we'll do our very best for you! Check all that apply.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITES

There are two optional activities on this trip:

Skydiving over the Grand Canyon. You dive tethered to a certified instructor. No previous experience necessary. Details here. Price: $299.

Mountain Bike Riding -- on departure day in Sedona we'll go for a moderate early-morning mountain bike ride. No mountain biking experience necessary. Mountain bikes and a guide will be provided. Price: $100.

SO... are you interested? You are NOT bound by your answer, and we will NOT collect any money here for these optional activities -- we're just trying to get a rough idea of how many people MIGHT be interested. What says you?

Flight from Las Vegas to The Grand Canyon

We will be flying on chartered aircraft from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon -- spectacular views, and one of the highlights of the trip. This flight is included in the price of the trip.

The airline requires us to ask how much each passenger weighs.

Yeah, I'm not crazy about that question either. Personally, I have not stepped on a scale in about 10 years -- what number could possibly come up that would make me happy?

ANYWAY... this info is mandatory for this flight.

SO...

help?

The coupon code is for people such as staff. There isn't some giant discount out there that everyone else is getting!

READ THIS CAREFULLY!

We need to get 57 people signed up to make this trip work. If we have fewer than 57 I lose a lot of money, and once when I wasn't paying attention my accountant said something about losing money being very bad.

If we get to July 1 and we haven't sold enough slots, we'll cancel the trip, notify you, and IMMEDIATELY refund 100% of what you've paid, INCLUDING the on-line service fees.  Your cost is zero.

All this a long-winded way to say that if you are one of the first to sign-up we appreciate it, but I wouldn't dash out and purchase trip cancellation coverage or book a non-refundable air fare just yet until we confirm with you on July 1 or earlier.  Similarly, don't send us any checks just yet.

OK?  OK!
